Mastering SEO: Unlock the Secrets to Skyrocket Your Website Traffic and Revenue
Friends, I don’t just teach you; I learn as well. So today, I’m here to explore a topic with you, and that is SEO. Full meaning of Search Engine Optimization.
In my opinion, Search Engine Optimization means aligning the search engine in favor of your website. What does that mean? Let me explain.
When we don’t know something, what’s the first thing we do? We search on Google, right? This act of searching and Google providing answers to our queries is what we call the search engine process. Now, how does Google know the answers to your questions?
Google has a robot that continuously crawls the web. Whenever it finds new information or encounters a query similar to yours, it stores it in its database. The robot then searches through its collection to provide the most relevant answer to your query. To do this, Google combs through thousands, sometimes millions, of websites—this process is known as crawling. After gathering and evaluating the information, it lines up the best answers in order, like 1, 2, 3, and so on. So, when you type your question into the search bar, Google shows you the top answers based on its ranking system.
Getting the answer to your question seems easy, doesn’t it? However, the process behind it is quite complex. To provide the best response, Google follows around 250 to 300 guidelines.
Some of these guidelines include:
Is the website trustworthy?
- How much traffic does the website receive daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly?
- How many visitors leave the site immediately after entering (known as bounce rate)?
- How many articles does the site contain, and what is their quality?
- How proficient is the site in the language you are searching in?
After assessing hundreds of factors like these, Google adds the best-matching websites to its index, meaning it includes them in the search results. The more a website follows these 250–300 rules, the higher it ranks in Google’s search results, ideally appearing on the first page.
Appearing on the first page isn’t the end, though. Google further ranks sites from 1 to 10. When users search for something, they tend to click on the top 1, 2, or 3 results. When people search for something, they usually click on one of the first three results. As more people visit these top sites, their traffic grows, and with that, the website’s overall activity naturally picks up.
If the website sells any product or service, the sales also increase due to the added traffic. Some websites even make money through AdSense, relying on visitor traffic for ad revenue. With more traffic coming through search engine indexing, the AdSense business grows.
This is why website creators seek to increase visitors, and to do so, they need to convince Google’s robot by following the 250–300 rules. This process is known as Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
